MOUNT VERNON — Kay Frances Lisenby Trout, 83, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 6:37 pm January 2, 2024 at her home.
She was born December 8, 1940 in Mount Vernon to the late John Francis and Maxine (Hayes) Shores. Kay first married Gerald Lisenby on September 10, 1960. He preceded her in death on February 17, 2006. On May 23, 2009, Kay married Ronnie Trout. He preceded her in death on July 15, 2022.
Kay is survived by her son, Kevin Lisenby and wife, Sally of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Jamie Hardy and husband, Nathan of Opdyke, Illinois, Ashleigh Brown and husband, Nathan of Flora, Illinois, Danielle Abbott and husband, Garrett of Centralia, Illinois, and Jaylee Lisenby and Luna the Dog of Mount Vernon; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Gavin, Emma, Kaden, Xander, Hendrix, Hudson, Brooklyn, Lyla, and Ava; siblings, David Shores and wife, Pat and Carolyn Summers and husband, Richard; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Kay was preceded in death by her brother, John Russell Shores. Kay was the owner and operator of her own house cleaning business. She was a member of the Baptist faith. Kay enjoyed singing and was a part of the Golden Harvest Singers. Most of all, Kay loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be missed dearly.
A Visitation will be held Friday, January 5, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home with Brother Harol Whitlock and Reverend David Shores officiating. Interment will follow at Old Orchard Cemetery in Jefferson County, Illinois.
