MOUNT VERNON — The first baby born in 2024 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon entered the world just 37 minutes into the New Year.

Dywon Dixon Jr., of Nashville, Illinois weighed six pounds 13 ounces when he was born at 12:37 a.m. January 1, 2024.

His parents are Hannah Goza and Dywon Dixon and he has two siblings, Kehlani and Za’kalia.

The next day, the first female baby of the New Year was born at Good Samaritan.

Lilly Ann Haragett, of West Frankfort, weighed six pounds 14 ounces when she was born at 2:02 a.m. January 2, 2024. She’s the daughter of Jamie Pruett and Josh Hargett. She has two siblings Payton and Walker.

St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Salem provided baskets to both Dywon and Lilly Ann.
