ELDORADO, Ill. — The Eldorado School Board will discuss and consider suspending and/or terminating the at-will employment of athletic coaches and consider appointing interim coaches at a special board meeting tonight at 7.
This meeting stems from an incident when Eldorado played Hamilton County in a boys’ basketball game Thursday at the Eldorado Holiday Tournament.
Following the incident, Eldorado High School released a statement saying the school’s administration was conducting a thorough investigation in collaboration with officials from Eldorado and Hamilton County.
The Eldorado School District said it would not tolerate the unsportsmanlike behavior displayed during Thursday’s game and the student involved would face appropriate consequences.
Immediately following the game, Eldorado promptly reported the incident to the Illinois High School Athletic Association and was in close cooperation with them.
The school district refrained from commenting on specific disciplinary actions regarding students or staff due to confidentiality reasons.
Tonight’s boys’ basketball game between Eldorado and Mt. Carmel has been canceled.
