FAYETTE COUNTY — A 21-year-old Kinmundy man was sentenced Wednesday in Fayette County Court to probation and time served on a sexual assault charge.
Riley Smith Jr. had earlier pleaded guilty to Class 2 felony aggravated criminal sexual assault in exchange for a Class X felony charge of predatory criminal sexual assault being dismissed.
The incident reportedly occurred in July of 2022 in rural Farina. The victim was a girl under the age of 13.
Smith was sentenced to four years probation and 180 days in jail but was given credit for 514 days served in the Fayette County Jail. He’s to have no contact with the victim or unsupervised contact with minors under the age of 18.
He’s prohibited from having internet access, a smartphone, or viewing pornography of any kind. Smith will have to abstain from alcohol, drugs, and cannabis, submit to random testing, wear a GPS device for six months, and attend sex offender-specific counseling.
