MOUNT VERNON — Sharon Elaine Terry, 68, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 1:25 am November 16, 2023 at her home.

She was born June 1, 1955 in Mount Vernon to the late Clyde E. and Doris (Bumpus) Sinks. Sharon married Mark Terry on April 24, 1976 in Central Christian Church. They were blessed with 47 years of marriage.

In addition to her beloved husband, Sharon is survived by her daughter, Megan Kelly and husband, Brian of O’Fallon, Missouri; son, Craig Terry and significant other, Adrian True of Saint Louis, Missouri; grandchildren, Emma, Alex, and Elin Kelly; sister, Anita Hays and husband, Steve of Mount Vernon; siblings-in-law, Marsha Webb of Saint Louis, Marilyn Hinerman of Hope Mills, North Carolina, and Marty Terry and wife, Debbie of Mount Vernon; nieces and nephews, Stephanie Fally and husband, Wes, Ryan Hays and wife, Nicole, Sheri Byrd and husband, Michael, Erica Hoggard and husband, John, Ashton Orrell and husband, John, and James Wilson and wife, Keegan; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by her brothers-in-law, Montie Terry, Bill Webb, Jim Hinerman, and Mike Terry.

Sharon retired as a recruiter for State Farm Insurance. She was a very active and loyal member of Central Christian Church in Mount Vernon. She served as past president of Summersville Board of Education and was also a CASA Advocate, Senior Saint in 2021, and on the Jefferson County Mental Health Board. Sharon was an avid Saint Louis Cardinals and SIU Saluki fan, as well as newfound Kansas City Chiefs fan. Most importantly, Sharon was a lover of Christ, her husband, children, grandchildren, her extended family, and beloved dog, Daisy. She will be missed by all who knew and cherished her.

A Visitation will be held Saturday, November 18, 2023 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Central Christian Church in Mount Vernon. A Funeral Service will begin at 2:00 pm with Mr. Jamie Allen officiating. Interment will follow at South Hickory Hill Cemetery in Mount Vernon.
