CENTRALIA — Charles “Dan” Capps, 80, of Centralia, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2023 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
He was born August 25, 1943 in Herrin, the son of George Capps and Marie (Hastings) Capps. He married Connie Singer on April 23, 1965 and she survives.
In addition to his wife of 58 years, Connie Capps of Centralia, he is also survived by his three children: Darryl Capps and wife Kelly, Lisa Witt and husband Adam and Cathy Bostick and husband Jason; six grandchildren: Kayla Wedekemper and husband Thomas, Abigail Wehking and husband Caleb, Madalyn Capps and fiancé Cordell Beckman, Marissa Bostick, Chloe Bostick, and Katie Bostick; five great-grandchildren: Lillian, Allie, Sadie, Hank and Tessa.
Dan worked for the railroad for 20 years until he retired. He was a member of the Central City Baptist Church. He enjoyed watching train videos and listening to Billy Graham. Dan was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge. He will be remembered for his faith, being a family man and his love for football.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 1:00 PM at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia. Visitation will be held Thursday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
