MOUNT VERNON — Philip Gilchrist, 68, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 7:17 pm November 10, 2023 at Mount Vernon Countryside Manor.

He was born November 30, 1954 in Carrier Mills, Illinois to the late Tommy Gilchrist and Betty Jo Spears. Philip is survived by his children, Amanda Gilchrist, Faith Wilson and husband, Jake, and Trey Gilchrist and significant other, Ciara Harvey, all of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Ella Wilson and a baby boy on-the-way; brother, David Gilchrist of Marion, Illinois; former wife, Lisa Gilchrist of Mount Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Philip was preceded in death by his stepfather, Loren Carter; and brother, Brad Gilchrist.

Philip worked as a radiation therapist for many years. Prior to that, he worked as a radio and sports broadcaster. Philip enjoyed to golf. He was a movie buff and also loved to watch sports, especially Saluki basketball. Philip was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed.
