WOODLAWN, Ill. — Clarence Edgar Duckworth, 82, of Woodlawn, Illinois, passed away at 4:20 am November 10, 2023 at his home.
He was born August 4, 1941 in Longview, Texas to the late Edgar and Beulah Evelyn (Baker) Duckworth. Clarence married Linda Lou (Bottorff) Duckworth on May 16, 1962 in Wayne County, Illinois. They were blessed with 58 years of marriage before her passing on August 30, 2020.
Clarence is survived by his daughters, Melanie Spangler and husband, Dan of Woodlawn and Stacey Crutcher of Bloomington, Illinois; grandchildren, Beth Spangler, Jamie Spangler and partner Kent Leneave and Jeffrey Crutcher; great-granddaughter, Aabri Savage; and brother, Jimmy Duckworth, several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his beloved wife and parents, Clarence was preceded in death by his siblings, Tommy Duckworth and Susie Figley; and stepsiblings, Deloris Davis and Gertrude Gibbs.
Clarence proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was the curator for the Veterans Museum, and treasurer for the Veterans Memorial Committee, and helped design the Veterans Monument in Woodlawn. Clarence was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be missed by all who knew and cherished him.
A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. The Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm with Reverend Gary Davenport officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn. Full Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #141.
