MT. VERNON, IL — The Mt. Vernon City Council has approved funds to continue to update the water infrastructure. Approval was made for funds to replace the L&N water tower near the reservoir as well as many miles of water lines. Mayor John Lewis says although it’s not something citizens can see on a regular basis, great water infrastructure is a key element to a thriving community.

The City Council also approved a resolution to have Ameren relocate some power poles and transformer boxes out from the soon-to-be downtown green space.
