JEFFERSON COUNTY — Details of a fatal head-on crash Tuesday afternoon on state Route 37 north of Dix have been released.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, 55-year-old Tina Scribner, of Mt. Vernon was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. At the same time, the 61-year-old driver of the other vehicle Allen Rudd was taken by ambulance to a Mt. Vernon hospital. His passengers, 63-year-old passenger Iris Rudd, and Dorothea McFarland of Mt. Vernon, were airlifted from the scene.

Crash reports indicate Scribner was southbound on Route 37 in the northbound lane when she and Rudd swerved in the same direction and collided head-on in the northbound lane.

One of the helicopters landed in a nearby field, while the second landed directly on Highway 37.

Jefferson Fire reports the head-on crash happened around 3:45 Tuesday afternoon. The Sheriff’s Department closed the highway for approximately four hours while first responders were on the scene.
