BOND COUNTY — A 17-year-old Hoffman female has been charged as an adult in Bond County Court in connection with a fatal car-motorcycle crash early Saturday morning on Illinois Rt. 127, south of Greenville.

Elise P. Johnston of Hoffman is accused of alleged aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol in a crash that led to the death of 40-year-old motorcycle driver Jason L. Boaz, of Greenville.

According to Illinois State Police, around 1:20 a.m. Saturday, Johnston was driving her Chevrolet Malibu southbound on Illinois Rt. 127, when she allegedly crossed the centerline, and struck the Boaz motorcycle head-on. He was pronounced dead at the scene, while Johnston was taken to a hospital with what state police indicated were minor injuries.

Later Saturday, Bond County State’s Attorney Dora Mann filed a Class 2 felony charge against Johnston as an adult.

The charge alleges she was driving when the alcohol concentration in her breath was .08 or more, and she was involved in a motor vehicle accident that resulted in the death of Jason Boaz.

Bond for Johnston was set at $150,000. She was released from the Bond County Jail later Saturday after $15,000 cash bond was posted.
