MARION COUNTY — Former Marion County Sheriff Brad Wolenhaupt passed away Wednesday, at the age of 70.

Brad spent most of his adult life serving the public, starting with his time in the U.S. Air Force through his time at the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

For 33 years Brad worked in law enforcement, with eight years as the popular sheriff of Marion County. He volunteered as a DARE officer for seven years and served on the Centralia City Council for 11 years.

Wolenhaupt retired early from the Marion County Sheriff’s Department and pleaded guilty to felony official misconduct illegally using county funds for personal use.
