HARRISBURG, Ill. — A 52-year-old Harrisburg woman has been arrested for allegedly trying to rob the Woodforest National Bank inside the Harrisburg Walmart Thursday.
Harrisburg Police say the bank teller called Saline County Central Dispatch saying the woman walked into the bank and passed a note to the teller demanding $45,000 and indicating to the teller that “this is a stickup.” Officers were then called out to the bank.
Upon their arrival at the bank, officers learned the woman had left Walmart, but ultimately located a suspect matching the description the teller had given.
Officers made contact with the woman and identified her as 52-year-old Gwendolyn Breckenridge of Harrisburg. Breckenridge was detained while officers spoke with witnesses and collected the notes the suspect reportedly passed to the teller. Witnesses reportedly confirmed the suspect was Breckenridge.
Breckenridge was arrested and taken to the Saline County Jail where she was booked on a charge of Attempted Robbery.
