Editorial note: Online court records initially showed Nagy was charged with Class X felony predatory criminal sexual assault of a victim under the age of 13. However, after asking for clarification on the charges, Centralia Police indicated the alleged victim is 17. The Class X felony charge was later reduced to Class 1 felony criminal sexual assault by force. Bond in the case remains set at $250,000.

MARION COUNTY — Bond has been set at $250,000 for an 18-year-old Centralia man accused of sexually assaulting a victim under the age of 13.

According to court records, Kaleb Nagy was charged Friday morning in Marion Court with Class X felony predatory criminal sexual assault of a victim under the age of 13.

Centralia Police say they responded Thursday to St. Mary’s where the alleged victim reported a sexual assault that occurred in Foundation Park and identified Nagy. The two reportedly were coworkers at a Centralia business.

Officers located Nagy at his home and took him into custody without incident before transporting him to the Marion County Jail where he remains.

Judge Mark Stedelin advised Nagy Friday of the charges against him and the possible punishments if convicted. He also ordered the defendant to have no contact with the alleged victim in the case or their residence, whether he is free on bond or not.

Nagy is next scheduled to appear in court on July 18 for a preliminary hearing and first appearance with his court-appointed attorney.
