WAMAC, Ill. — A $5 million meat processing company is being proposed for the Village of Wamac and could bring 20 to 25 new jobs to the area.
According to the Village, Big Boy Processing, Inc. is looking to locate its facility at the former McKay building on South Brookside.
The Village has issued a special use permit to Big Boy, which is a USDA Certified Class 1 meat processing facility.
The company is also planning to open a retail store at the front of the processing facility.
The business is currently in the planning stages with operations still 12 to 18 months away.
