SALEM — Motorists may have to seek a different route this summer when heading southbound from Salem.
According to the Illinois Department of Transportation, starting June 13 through July 14, the southbound ramp from U.S. 50 to Interstate 57 will be closed nightly from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m.
Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on alert for workers and equipment.
Also, construction on U.S. 50 east of Salem started early. Initially scheduled to begin June 7, work has started a week early and will likely cause delays between Salem and the Clay County/Marion County line.
Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on alert for workers and equipment.
