CENTRALIA — Judith Rae Simpson, 76, of Centralia, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2023, at White Oaks Rehabilitation Center in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.

She was born October 28, 1946, in Thebes, Illinois, the daughter of Walter Thomas Simpson and Lena (Hewitt) Simpson.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother: Walter”Scoop” Simpson and wife Marie, and four sisters: Tommie Jean Craine and husband Jack, Mary Joe Jaco and husband Ray, Jenna Lee Pink and husband Harry, and Bobbie Bernice Schafer and husband Donald.

Judith worked at Warren G. Murray Center for 30-plus years. She was a member of the Central City Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and volunteered for other activities. She enjoyed working on genealogy, reading and making crafts.

Per Judith’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and a Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 27, 2023, at the Central City Baptist Church in Central City with Pastor Kyle Ryan officiating. Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 27, 2023, until the time of service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Central City Baptist Church and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 North Sycamore Street Centralia, Illinois 62801, 618-532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Simpson family.
