PATOKA, Ill. — A Wednesday afternoon farming accident has reportedly claimed the life of a rural Patoka man.

According to the Fayette County Coroner’s Office, they were called to the scene of a farm accident off Murray Road in rural Patoka Wednesday afternoon, where they pronounced 90-year-old Billy Edwards dead at the scene.

Edwards was operating an open-station tractor and apparently struck an object in front of the tractor.

Accident reports show Edwards was thrown off the tractor and underneath its rear wheel. His death was determined to be accidental.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and members of the Patoka Fire and Rescue responded to the scene.
