United Way of South Central Illinois (UWSCI) is helping with recovery efforts for those in the some 40 homes damaged during the recent tornado in Salem. According to Natalie Shook, Executive Director of the UWSCI, victims of the twister are currently in need of gift cards, cash, and cleaning supplies.

There are multiple ways to donate to the victims of the April 1st tornado. Shook says a number of area banks are accepting cash and checks toward the effort.

United Way will be collecting donations for the Salem recovery effort through April 14th. 100% of donated funds received by UWSCI will go directly to recovery efforts.

Please consider rounding up your gift to cover the cost of credit card processing fees when donating.
