Virginia Lee (Edmison) McCord, 89, of Wayne city, IL passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2023 at her home.

Virginia was born on February 2, 1934 in Wayne City, IL to her parents Frank and Esther Edmison.  On July 4, 1952 she married Murvin Lee McCord who preceded her in death.  Virginia and husband Murvin enjoyed  68 years of marriage.

Virginia was a devout Christian and a wonderful wife and mother. She was adored by her grandchildren. Virginia helped her husband farm and was an excellent book keeper.  She was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed cooking and baking for those she loved.  She was a former Sunday School teacher and was a member of the Keenes Missionary Baptist Church.

Virginia is survived by her son Leon McCord of Wayne city, a daughter Lea (Don) Sneed of Buford IL, three grandchildren Adam McCord (and Nik Sneshkoff) of National Harbor Maryland, Amy (Andrew) Hermes of Dix IL, Sarah (Derek) Moore of Mt. Vernon IL; 6 great grandchildren Natalie McCord, Michael McCord, Carson Moore, Claire Moore, Cora Moore, and Amelia Hermes; and a brother-in-law Billie McCord of Tennessee.

She was preceded in death by her husband Murvin; her parents, Frank and Esther Edmison; and her brother Bob Edmison.

Funeral services for Virginia Lee (Edmison) McCord will be held at ­11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at Young Funeral Home in Wayne City, IL with Matt Barner officiating.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 28 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Young Funeral Home.  Interment will follow the funeral services at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Keenes Missionary Baptist Church, and will be accepted at Young Funeral Home in Wayne City.
