MARION COUNTY — A 41-year-old Salem man pleaded guilty Tuesday in Marion County Court to four of 10 child pornography charges against him.
Anthony Phillips was arrested in August 2021 and charged with 10 counts Class 2 felony possession of child pornography depicting a victim under the age of 13.
Phillips has remained in the Marion County Jail since his arrest, with bond set at $75,000.
Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Detective Captain Bobby Wallace previously testified in court that Phillips’ arrest and the seizure of evidence from his Salem home came after he received a tip from Homeland Security’s Cyber Crimes Task Force regarding possible child pornography activity in the area.
A search warrant was first secured to search for records to confirm the location of the activity. A second warrant was then secured to search Phillips’ home in Salem.
Marion County Sheriff’s deputies assisted with the search of the home at which time evidence in the case was found and seized and Phillips was taken into custody.
On Tuesday Phillips pleaded guilty to counts one through four against him in exchange for counts five through 10 being dismissed.
A pres-sentencing report was ordered in the case and sentencing was scheduled for March 7.
