Cathy D. Lipe, 71, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 10:28 am January 12, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in O’Fallon, Illinois.

She was born December 15, 1951 in Salem, Illinois to the late Mel E. and Lois (Smith) Taylor. Cathy married David Lipe on June 27, 1970 in Mount Vernon, Illinois. In addition to her loving husband of fifty-two years, Cathy is survived by her son, Jason Lipe and Mary of Kell, Illinois; daughter, Staci Lipe and special friend, Jason Hayes of Waltonville, Illinois; grandson, Grant Tobin and special friend, Shayla Sanders; and brother, Danny Taylor and wife, Tina of Arlington, Texas. In addition to her parents, Cathy was preceded in death by her parents-in-law, Ray and Jewel Lipe. Cathy worked at J.C. Penney as office personnel and retired from Effingham Truck Sales as their office manager. She was of the Baptist Faith and loved her family dearly. Cathy was their number one fan and she will be greatly missed.

A Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 18, 2023 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 pm with Reverend Gary Davenport officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois.
