SALEM — Bond has been set at $250,000 for a 60-year-old Salem man charged Monday morning in Marion County Court with Class X felony home invasion and Class 2 felony sexual abuse.
According to Salem Police Chief Kyle Ambuehl, Jeffery R. Tate was arrested Sunday, after officers responded to an open line 9-1-1 call from a West Warmouth Street home.
Police reports indicate dispatchers could hear arguing on the open 9-1-1 call. Tate allegedly told the female resident they were going to have sex and attempted to take off her blouse.
Ambuehl says Tate was prohibited from having contact with the alleged victim and location per his probation agreement on an earlier domestic battery conviction.
He was taken into custody at the scene but requested medical attention. The officers transported Tate to the Salem Township Hospital Emergency Room where he was ultimately cleared and taken to the Marion County Jail.
