Mary Jane Ackley, 79, of Clarksville, Tennessee, formerly of Mount Vernon, passed away at 12:25 pm October 17, 2022 at her residence. She was born September 30, 1943 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late Lorene (Smith) Green

Mary was married to Arthur Wayne Ackley on January 25, 1960 in Mount Vernon. They were blessed with nearly sixty-one years of marriage before Arthur passed on December 26, 2020.

Mary is survived by her son, Allen Ackley (Zack Marston) of Coalinga, California; daughters, Patricia Wagers of Carterville, Illinois, Pamela Brumfield of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Rebecca Cross (Stefan Williams) of Clarksville, Tennessee; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Carolyn Francis of Kingman, Arizona and Kathleen Newcomb of Mission, Texas; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to her mother and husband, Mary was preceded in death by her daughters, Kathy Lynn Ackley and Tresa Jane Gunter and brother, George.

Mary worked with the Holiday Inn in Mount Vernon, Illinois until she retired. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren, and was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed playing bingo for many years and the casino. She really enjoyed being able to travel to visit family in other states. She was dearly loved by many and will be missed by all her family and friends.

A Visitation will be held Sunday, October 23, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Graveside Service will be held Monday, October 24, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Sursa Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Mr. Marty Mills officiating. Interment will follow. Memorials may be made in Mary’s honor to the Huntington’s Foundation.
