CARLINVILLE — Dewayne A. Coughlin, 61, of Carlinville, Illinois, formerly of Xenia, IL passed away October 12, 2022, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
Born August 5, 1961, in Salem, he was the son of William P. and Norma (Keller) Coughlin who preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at the First Christian Church, 1200 W. Boone St., Salem, IL with Roy Koduavlil officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 11:00 am until the service hour on Wednesday. Burial will be private at a later date in Lovells Grove – 1880 Cemetery, Omega, IL. Dewayne attended Salem High School. He graduated from Lewis and Clark Community College, Alton, IL. Possessing a strong work ethic, he was a farmer and worked in the oil industry and the electronic field. He formerly worked at Dana Corporation in Litchfield, Continental Tire in Mt. Vernon, and Exxon Mobile in Patoka. He also had an interest in his daughter’s company, CMC Trucking located both in Fairview Heights, IL and Dallas, TX. Above all, he was proud of his family and a very proud grandparent. Personally, he enjoyed hunting, traveling, music and sports, especially baseball and football, and the St. Louis Cardinals. He was of the Christian faith and member of First Christian Church, Gillespie, Illinois.
He married Tammy J. Lewis in Xenia, IL, on September 15, 1984, and she survives in Carlinville. Also surviving is his daughter Chelsea Marie Coughlin of Fairview Heights, IL, and three loving granddaughters, Olivia, Mykah and Makayla, brother David L. Coughlin and wife Angie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Misty Jane Coughlin September 11, 2021.
