Sharon L. Bazyar, 74, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 7:49 am, September 13, 2022, at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon. She was born November 16, 1947 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late Wilford and Ruby (Walker) Rector.

Sharon is survived by her son, Jawaid Bazyar, his wife Xiaoli, and their daughter Amelia of Denver, Colorado; sisters Patricia Manby and her husband of Star, Idaho; and Paula Mueller and her husband of Seaside, California.

In addition to her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by her former husbands, Azim Bazyar and Gerald Mack Smith.

Sharon attended grade school and high school in Winnebago, Illinois and was salutatorian of her graduating class. She attended one year of college at the University of Arizona in Tucson. She enjoyed reading, cooking and watching old movies. Sharon also enjoyed genealogy and was a fount of information about family history. She was a doting mother, grandmother and aunt.

A Visitation will be held Saturday, October 8, 2022 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am with Reverend Alan Smith and Father Benny George officiating. Interment will follow at New Shiloh Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Sharon’s honor to the American Diabetes Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
