WILLIAMSON COUNTY — Attorneys in two Williamson County cases accusing a former Johnston City teacher and coach of sexually assaulting minors have agreed to a February 2023 jury trial date – more than three years after the first charges were filed.
Trevor Clark, of Pittsburg, Illinois, was first arrested in 2019 and charged with five counts Class 2 felony aggravated criminal sexual abuse and four counts Class 1 felony criminal sexual assault of a person between the ages of 13 and 17 who was under his supervision.
Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse is a Class 2 felony carrying a possible sentence of 3-7 years in prison. Criminal Sexual Assault is a Class 1 felony carrying a possible sentence of 4-15 years in prison.
Bond in the case was set at $500,000 and he was released after posting $50,000 cash bail.
At the time, Illinois State Police asked for any other possible victims to come forward and approximately one year later, a second case was filed against Clark, this one charging him with two Class 1 felonies for criminal sexual assault of a person between the ages of 13 and 17 who was under his supervision.
Bond in the second case was set at $250,000 and Clark was released after posting $25,000 cash bail.
Both cases have moved slowly through the system since that second arrest two years ago but dates have now been set for a final pre-trial hearing and jury trial after the first of the year.
Clark was in his second stint as Johnston City Baseball’s head coach when he was arrested in 2019. He had first served in that position from 1998 to 2011 and returned to that role in 2014 until his arrest in 2019.
Both cases against Clark are being prosecuted by Special Prosecutor Lorinda Lamken with the Illinois Appellate Prosecutor’s Office.
