Mt. Vernon, IL — Now is the time to schedule back-to-school and sports physicals. Students must have a physical examination and all required immunizations before starting school. Healthcare providers are following stringent protocols to keep clinics safe for your family.

Ashley Hofer, FNP at Crossroads Clinic in Mt. Vernon, IL explains, “Seeing your child in-person helps determine problems early-on. For children and adolescents, we check the growth, development, and well-being of children, including their emotional well-being.”

Sonya McKinney, FNP at Crossroads Clinic in Mt. Vernon, IL stated, “We’ve seen lots of children experiencing stress, depression, or anxiety, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and we’re here to help you and your child through tough times.”

Hofer and McKinney will also be offering free sport physicals at the Hands Up event at Veteran’s Park in Mt Vernon on August 13th from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. No appointment necessary.

Most often physical examinations are requested or required for kindergarten, sixth grade, ninth grade, as well as for new students from out of state; sports physicals are required for grades 7,8,11 and 12. Sixth and ninth graders do not need a separate sport physical with their school physical. The new school year will be here before you know it.
