MOUNT VERNON — In a celebration for the work and sacrifice given recently to repair and replace the roof on a local disabled Army Veteran’s home, organizers of that effort will be holding a prayer service Wednesday at that home.

According to David Keen, people will gather at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the home of Jeff and Jennifer Williams at 1010 Pace in Mt. Vernon. According to Keen, who spearheaded the movement to help replace the Williams’ old leaking roof, the group met its fundraising goal in just over a week.

While the initial goal was to fix the front and top portion of the roof, which were in the worst condition but because of the community’s generosity, the entire roof was replaced.
