David L. Freeman, 75, of Scheller, Illinois, passed away at 12:44 am June 21, 2022 at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois.

He was born January 25, 1947 in Mount Vernon to the late Orval and Marie (Wojtowicz) Freeman.  David is survived by his children, Leslie Knox and husband, Matt of Woodlawn, Illinois and Bradley Freeman of Rydal, Georgia; grandchildren, Lexy Knox, Katy Knox, Jacy Knox, and Alyssa Freeman; sister, Jane Owens and husband, John of Scheller; and several nieces and nephews. David was a retired coal miner. He worked at Old Ben #24 Mine in Benton, Illinois for many years. He was also the owner and operator of The Mule Barn in Dubois, Illinois. He was an avid gun collector and enjoying fishing in his spare time. David was loved by many and will be deeply missed.

A Visitation will be held Friday, June 24, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Newell Funeral Home in Waltonville, Illinois. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 10:00 am at Saint Barbara Catholic Church in Scheller with Father Nick Junker officiating. Interment will follow at Knob Prairie Cemetery in Waltonville, Illinois.
