MARION COUNTY, IL — A 22-year-old Sandoval man has been charged with multiple offenses in Marion County Court following his arrest Monday by Sandoval police.
According to Centralia acting police Chief Lt. Steve Whritenour, two people filed complaints with Centralia police against Branden Bierman on March 19.
The two claimed Bierman went to a house on Holly Street in Centralia and went after the male complainant with an axe handle.
Police took photos of bruising and swelling evident on the male at that time. He also told police Bierman had lunged at him with a knife.
The female complainant told police Bierman then took the axe handle and smashed out the windshield of her mother’s car that was parked at the house.
Whritenour says Bierman was then listed as a person of interest with their department on charges of aggravated assault, battery, and criminal damage to property.
He says he wasn’t located until Monday when Sandoval police arrested him for allegedly pulling a knife on a 14-year-old female.
Bierman was taken to the Marion County Jail where he remains on charges connected to the alleged March incident.
Judge Mark Stedelin on Tuesday set bail for Bierman at $7,500 and ordered him to have no contact with the alleged victims, their places of employment or residences.
A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for June 28 along with a first appearance with his court appointed attorney.
