EFFINGHAM COUNTY — A 17-year-old Farina boy was killed in a car crash Monday afternoon near Mason.
According to reports, around 1:47 p.m. Monday, Cody J. Blair was traveling eastbound on 300th Avenue just west of Mason when his vehicle left the roadway and crossed a private drive, then entered a ditch.

That caused the vehicle to go airborne. The vehicle landed on the edge of the roadway and rolled several times down the roadway, causing it to come to rest in a ditch.

Blair was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Effingham County Coroner Kim Rhodes and Effingham County Sheriff’s Department investigated the crash and says it appears a medical issue may have contributed to the crash.

Medical records were requested and toxicology samples were taken by the coroner’s office to assist in the investigation.
