WAMAC — Wamac police are investigating a shooting in the 130 block of North Irvington Street Monday night that sent a 27-year-old man to the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds.

According to Wamac Police Chief Steve Prather, Travis B. Brow was found inside his North Irvington Street home and was initially taken to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia before being airlifted to a St. Louis area hospital for treatment. Chief Prather says while Brow suffered numerous gunshot wounds, none appeared to be immediately life-threatening.

Illinois State Police Crime Scene Agents were called to the scene to begin processing the area for evidence. Due to his medical status, investigators have not yet been able to interview Brow. However, Chief Prather believes the large amount of evidence collected at the scene will help solve the crime.

No further details will be released at this time as the investigation is active and ongoing.

Washington County Sheriff’s Department, Irvington and Centralia police departments and the Illinois State Police assisted in processing the scene of the Monday night shooting.
