According to Deputy Detective Bobby Wallace, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, received a tip Monday through its mobile app claiming Roy Staley had child pornography on multiple devices.
An investigation was launched, and a warrant was issued to search Staley’s apartment and devices. Wallace says several files were subsequently located on at least one of Staley’s electronic devices and he was taken into custody.
Prosecutors on Tuesday filed two Class X felony charges against Staley for the reproduction of child pornography of a victim under the age of 13, four Class 2 felony counts of possessing child pornography of a victim under the age of 13, and one Class 2 felony charge of possessing a child pornography movie or video.
Staley remains in the Jefferson County Jail awaiting the setting of bond and the formal filing of charges.
