Eunice I. Lane, 98, of Bluford, Illinois, passed away at 11:51 am March 27, 2022 at her residence.

She was born March 23, 1924 in Wayne County, Illinois to the late Sam and Hattie (Wood) Braddock. Eunice married  Archie E. Lane on November 17, 1945 in Effingham, Illinois. They were blessed with nearly fifty-two years of marriage before he preceded her in death on August 18, 1997. Eunice is survived by her daughters, Patty Jackson and husband, Bruce and Peggy Vance and significant other, Steve Walkington; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents and husband, Eunice was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Steve Vance; grandson, Scott Sanner; great-grandson, Morgan McKinney; four brothers; and one sister.Eunice was Jefferson County Deputy Circuit Clerk for several years. She also worked fourteen years at Western Union until she retired in December 1985. Eunice was a member of East Hickory Hill Baptist Church.

A Visitation will be held Saturday, April 2, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will be held Sunday, April 3, 2022 at 10:00 am at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Reverend Richard McCormick officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois.
