Debra Jo Lacey, 68, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 4:22 am March 12, 2022 at her home with her family by her side after a twenty year battle with Parkinson’s.

She was born July 12, 1953 in McLeansboro, Illinois to the late Joe Henry and Ruby Fern (York) Cope. Debra married Stephen Lacey on June 30, 1972 in Mount Vernon, Illinois. In addition to her husband of nearly fifty years, Debra is survived her daughters, Julie French and husband, Jason of Saint Charles, Missouri, Melissa Elliott and husband, Blake of Mount Vernon, Illinois; grandchildren, Emily Elliott, Brody Elliott; brother, J.B. Cope and wife, Rhonda of Mount Vernon, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.Debra was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.

A Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 16, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, March 17, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Mr. Marty Mills officiating. Inurnment will follow.
