CENTRALIA, IL — Several people were arrested Wednesday in connection with a large fight over the weekend on the parking lot at the Marion County Housing Authority in Centralia.
According to Centralia police, 20 people in all were reportedly involved in the incident at Lincoln and Rexford Sunday afternoon.
The seven arrested Wednesday include 21-year-old Kasana James of Centralia, who was charged Thursday in Marion County Court with aggravated assault on public property and driving while license suspended – both are misdemeanors.
The other six are juveniles of junior high and high school age. Two were sent to Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center IN Benton pending court action.
A 15-year-old Centralia male and 17-year-old Centralia female were both arrested for aggravated battery, aggravated assault, and mob action.
The other four were released to their parent or guardian pending further court action.
As officers worked to break up the fight Sunday, one officer was reportedly attacked by one side of the conflict attempting to get to members of the other side. At least one person was armed with a baseball bat.
Video surveillance footage of the incident reportedly helped authorities identify the seven subjects arrested Wednesday as aggressors in Sunday’s incident that was allegedly connected to a Saturday night fight in the Fairview Shopping Center parking lot.
