Doris Jean Prince, 90, of McLeansboro, IL passed away Friday, February 25, 2022 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro as a result of the COVID-19 Corona Virus.
Doris was born November 3, 1931 the daughter of I.B. Taylor & Rose (Belt) Taylor. On July 4, 1949 she married Bob Prince, who survives. They were blessed with 72 years of marriage.
Doris worked as a bookkeeper and teller at Hamilton County Bank in McLeansboro, which later became Banterra Bank. She also worked as a receptionist at Hall’s Hospital in McLeansboro, and worked with her husband Bob at Prince Insurance & Real Estate in McLeansboro.
Doris was a member of the McLeansboro Saddle Club, the Hamilton County Bottle Club, the Hamilton County Historical Society, and the Hamilton County Queen Pins bowling team. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in McLeansboro, and a former Sunday School teacher, Bible School teacher, and choir member. Doris loved shopping at secondhand stores, thrift stores, and antique shops, and babysitting her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, watching Jeopardy, and she loved to laugh with friends.
Doris is survived by her husband Bob Prince of McLeansboro, daughter Pam (Earl) Ingram-Neff of McLeansboro, son Greg (Angel) Prince of Carbondale, IL; 4 grandchildren: Heather (Brian) Lux of Bentonville, AR; Kyle (Tiffany) Ingram of McLeansboro, Bobbie (Artie) Malchert of Clarksville, TN and Erin Prince (and Brett Laswell) of Belleville, IL; 5 great grandchildren: Carli Lux, Drew Lux, Kloey Ingram, Laila Malchert, and Ben Malchert, a niece Ladonna Bittenbender of McLeansboro, and her pet cat Tipper.She was preceded in death by both parents, sister Donna Bittenbender, son-in-law Carl Ingram, and her pet dog Tabitha.
A private family visitation and funeral service for Doris Jean Prince will be held on Monday, February 28, 2022 at the First Baptist Church in McLeansboro.
A public graveside service will be held at 1:15 pm on Monday, February 28, 2022 at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in McLeansboro.
Those attending the graveside service are asked to meet directly at the cemetery. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, masks will be required for all in attendance.
