Marina Lois Pierce, 93, of Mt. Vernon, passed away on Feb. 23, 2022 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
She was born on July 3, 1928, in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of Lester and Audrey (Tate) Bond. On May 4, 1951, in Marlow, She married Calvin P. Pierce and he preceded her in death on April 4, 2020.
Mrs. Pierce was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, and was a homemaker and farmer’s wife.
She is survived by two sons, Calvin Dewayne Pierce and wife Donna of Mt. Vernon, and Jeffrey Pierce and wife Rhonda of Mt. Vernon; four grandchildren, Colin Pierce and wife Kayla of Troy, Missouri, and Jacob Morris, Josh Morris and wife Krissa, and Jarron Morris, all of Mt. Vernon; one great-grandson, Colton Pierce of Troy, Missouri; two brothers, Edwin Bond and wife Marie of Mt. Vernon, and Harry Bond of Mt. Vernon; one sister, Norma Jean Ford and husband Virgil of Mt. Vernon; a sister-in-law, Wilma Campbell of Mt. Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Calvin Pierce, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Carlyn Pierce; her parents; brother, June Bond; sister, Mary Lou Bray; sister-in-law, Darlene Bond; brother-in-law, Cliff Campbell; brother-and-sister-in-law, Gene and Ghnell Pickett; brother-and-sister-in-law, Webb and Darlene Pierce; and three nieces.
Funeral services for Mrs. Pierce will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 28, 2022, at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix, with Marty Mills officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 27, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
