MT. VERNON, IL — Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 38-year-old Mt. Vernon woman on drug charges following a traffic stop early Saturday morning on South 6th Street and Veterans Memorial Drive in Mt. Vernon.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, during the stop, evidence of criminal activity was detected and the driver, Amanda L. Marquis, was detained for further investigation. The results of the investigation determined Marquis was in possession of various items of contraband. She was arrested and transported to the Justice Center. Marquis’ offenses were Possession of Methamphetamine less than 5 grams. Possession of Controlled Substance/intent to deliver, Possession of Cannabis/intent to deliver, Possession of Drug Equipment, Obstruct Justice/Destroy Evidence, and Unlawful Transportation of Cannabis.

Her bond was set at $20,000 and she posted the required cash bond on February 21st.
