Warren E. “Bunk” Holtz, 79, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away Saturday, January 29, 2022 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon.

He was born November 14, 1942 to the late Warren and Lyda (Hubler) Holtz. Warren is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Virginia “Ginger” (Rhodes) Holtz; sons, Edward E. Holtz of Nason, Illinois and Eric W. Holtz and wife, Mary of Waltonville, Illinois; grandchildren, Zackary Holtz of Nason and Destiny Holtz of Waltonville; brothers, Steven Holtz and wife, Bonnie of Smithon, Illinois and Joseph Holtz and wife, Megan of DuQuoin, Illinois; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his beloved cat, Lily Dee. Warren retired after forty years of dedicated work at World Color. He enjoyed camping, traveling, Saint Louis Cardinal ballgames, dirt track racing, and most of all, spending time with his family and friends. Warren will be deeply missed. The family of Warren would like to extend a special thank you to Rhonda Aydt for her many acts of care and kindness during Warren’s illness.

A Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 2, 2022 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Newell Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Coulterville Cemetery in Coulterville, Illinois.
