IUKA, IL — The Marion County Highway Department has announced Skillet Fork Bridge on Route 161 Extension has been reopened for two way traffic.

One lane of the bridge was closed in July to allow for repairs to the pavement. At that time structural problems were found on all seven spans of the bridge that resulted in weight restrictions being reduced. As of Tuesday, all repairs were completed, equipment was removed and the 41 ton weight limit restored.

The recent work is expected to add another 25 years to the life of the structure.
