Ronald “Ronnie” Lee Almaroad, Jr. 55, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 8:47 am December 8, 2021 at his residence in Mount Vernon.

He was born June 16, 1966 in Herrin, Illinois to Ronald Almaroad and Marlene (Litton) Almaroad.

Ronnie is survived by his mother, Marlene Almaroad of Mount Vernon, Illinois; son, Kent Almaroad and wife, Shauna of Salem, Illinois; girlfriend, Jeri Webb of Mount Vernon, Illinois; sister, Teresa Guinzy and husband, Ted of DuBois, Illinois; grandchildren, Remus and Felix Almaroad; nephew, Isaiah Guinzy; niece, Kyleigh; step children, Holly Karcher and husband, Logan of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Jeffrey Sledge of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Blake Greenwalt of Bluford, Illinois; and step grandchildren, Kaysen and Kymber Karcher.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his father, Ronald L. Almaroad.

Ronnie worked as a police officer for Mount Vernon Police Department for twenty-seven years before retiring as a Captain. He worked closely with the Federal Drug Task Force. After retirement, he worked as a security officer at the Federal Courthouse in Benton. Ronnie enjoyed the outdoors. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and nieces and nephews. A

Visitation will be held Monday, December 13, 2021 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Memorial Service will begin at 7:00 pm with Reverend Dan Lovin officiating. Memorials may be made in Ronnie’s honor to CASA.
