Larry Paul Nice, 76, of Dahlgren, IL passed away at his home on Thursday, November 18, 2021.
He was born June 30, 1945 in Mt. Vernon, IL the son of Albert & Lucille Nice. On November 30, 1963 he married Rosanna (Kreher) Nice, who survives. Larry worked as a farmer, a mechanic, and drove a fertilizer sprayer, and also was a bus driver for many years for Hamilton County Unit #10 schools in Dahlgren. He was formerly the Fire Chief of the Dahlgren Volunteer Fire Department, previously served as the Mayor of the Village of Dahlgren, and served on the Village of Dahlgren village board for many years. He enjoyed hunting & fishing, driving his swamp buggy, spoiling his grandbabies, and spending time with his family. He was a member of the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Dahlgren, a former member of the Sportsmans Club in Mt. Vernon, IL and was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
Larry is survived by his wife Rosanna Nice of Dahlgren, four children: daughter Pamela (Curt) Smith of Mt. Vernon, IL; son Rodney (Alberta) Nice of Dahlgren, son Charles Nice of Dahlgren, and daughter Beverly (Randy) Reyling of Dahlgren, six grandchildren: Jacob Smith of Mt. Vernon, IL; Cale Smith & special friend Patrick of Belleville, IL; Rachael Nice & special friend Brandon of Dahlgren, Michael Nice of Dahlgren, Dillin Reyling of Dahlgren, and Shelby Reyling of Dahlgren; great granddaughter Zoey McKibben, aunt Mary Karcher of Dahlgren, and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Albert & Lucille Nice.
Funeral services for Larry Paul Nice will be held at 10 am on Monday, November 22, 2021 at the Chapel of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Dahlgren with Father Slawomir Ptak officiating, with a Recitation of the Rosary at 9:30 am. Visitation will be held from 5 pm – 8 pm on Sunday, November 21 at the Chapel of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Dahlgren. Interment will take place in St. John Nepomucene Catholic Cemetery in Dahlgren. Memorial donations may be made to the Dahlgren Volunteer Fire Department and will be accepted at the service or at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro, which is in charge of arrangements.
