Vera M. Fisher, 66, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 6:58 pm October 19, 2021 at her residence in Mount Vernon, Illinois.

She was born April 16, 1955 in Hamilton County, Illinois to the late Eugene and Katherine (Brake) Schnicker. Vera married James Fisher on June 26, 1999 in Hamilton County, Illinois. They were blessed with nineteen years of marriage before he preceded her in death on June 19, 2018.Vera is survived by her son, Jesse Baltzell Jr. and wife, Kathy of Mount Vernon, Illinois; daughter, Kathy Byars and husband, Craig of Mount Vernon, Illinois; step daughter, Brandy Reeves and husband, Bryan of Greenville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Maria Byars, Amy Povolish and husband, Ryan, Jennifer Scarber, Danny Scarber and wife, Erica, Destiny, Mia, and Nena Reeves; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Jerry Schnicker and wife, Joyce of Dahlgren, Illinois, Larry Schnicker and wife, Betty of McLeansboro, Illinois, Mike Schnicker of Mount Vernon, Illinois; sisters, Olive Thomas and husband, Larry of Infield, Illinois, Tina White and husband, Tom of Keenes, Illinois; special niece, Chastaty White; special great-nephew, Logan; and special companion, Bandit.In addition to her parents and husband, Vera was preceded in death by her brother, Paul Schnicker.

A Visitation will be held Sunday, October 24, 2021 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 2:00 pm with Reverend John Ashby officiating. Interment will follow at Middle Creek Cemetery in Hamilton County, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Vera’s honor to the Charity of the Donor’s Choice.
