INA, IL — A 28-year-old man wanted on a Jefferson County warrant charging him with kidnapping has been arrested in Kentucky. According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Elijah L. Tiggens, of Berwyn, IL fled the scene of an incident Monday afternoon where his 22-year-old girlfriend jumped out of a moving vehicle after police found she was the victim of a serious domestic battery in the 500 block of Cross Street in Ina.
Due to her injuries she was transported to St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. JCSO Detectives responded to assist the investigation. The offender was identified as Tiggens, the victim’s boyfriend, but he had already left the scene. On Tuesday, the Jefferson County State’s Attorney’s Office requested, and received, a $100,000 arrest warrant in the case for Unlawful Restraint and Kidnapping.
Tiggens ultimately turned himself in to authorities in McCracken County, Kentucky where he remains awaiting extradition back to Illinois.
