David Lee Thomas, 59, of McLeansboro, Illinois passed away on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, IN.

He was born in McLeansboro, IL on September 8, 1961 to Marvin and Joyce (Upton) Thomas.  David worked at the Kenco warehouse in Mt. Vernon, IN, and was a member of the B.P.O.E. #1882 Elks Lodge in McLeansboro.  He loved to watch Cardinals baseball games, watch Westerns (especially Gunsmoke), and enjoyed solving crossword puzzles.

David is survived by his mother Joyce Louise (Upton) Thomas of McLeansboro, a son David W. (Sara) Thomas of Taylorville, IL; a daughter Deidra (Cory) Doerr of Waterloo, IL; a brother James Thomas of McLeansboro, a sister Deanna (Dan) Lentz of Laurel, MD; 5 grandchildren: Blake, Sophia, Nicholas, Fredrick, and Albert; a niece Katherine Lentz, and a nephew Kevin Lentz.

He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Thomas.

Graveside Funeral services for David Lee Thomas will be held at 11 AM on Monday, June 21, 2021 at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in McLeansboro, IL with Deacon Archie Bowers officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Park Foundation or the Lung Cancer Research Foundation, and will be accepted at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro, which is in charge of arrangements.
