CENTRALIA, IL — Two people were charged Wednesday morning in Marion County Court with felony burglary after Centralia police reportedly interrupted a burglary in progress Monday in the 1100 block of South Sycamore. Both 31-year-old john Pope and 36-year-old Ashley Matson, both of Centralia, were charged Wednesday with Class 2 felony burglary.

Centralia police reportedly discovered the pair after receiving a call from a neighbor reporting someone entering the home. It was apparently the second time the two had burglarized the same home.

They reportedly stole checks during a burglary a few weeks ago and were unsuccessful in obtaining a loan with the homeowners identity.
