WHITTINGTON, IL — Four Belleview, Florida residents were involved in a one-car crash on I-57 in Franklin County early Thursday morning. According to Illinois State Police, 26-year-old Aundreaa M. McElroy was driving her minivan south on I-57 at milepost 77 and Illinois 154 when she lost control and struck the west guardrail. McElroy then traveled through the center median, passed through both northbound lanes and struck the bridge support head-on.

McElroy and one of her passengers, 27-year-old Marshal C. Warner, were both taken by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Two other passengers, a four-year-old and six-year-old boy, were airlifted to a regional hospital with serious injuries. The ISP Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit (TCRU) is continuing the investigation.

McElroy was issued citations for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash and for failure to properly secure a child.
