Pauline M. Moore, 108, of Centralia, Illinois, passed away at 4:15 am March 23, 2021 at Fireside House in Centralia. She was born August 9, 1912 in Jefferson County, Illinois to the Late Walter W. and Mary E. (Highsmith) Waite. Pauline married Lee Moore on July 4, 1936 in Mount Vernon, Illinois and he preceded her in death on July 20, 1977.

Pauline is survived by her children, Carolyn Tate of Centralia, Illinois and Jim H. Moore of Apex, North Carolina; Grandchildren, LeAnn Smith and husband, Jeffrey of Bethalto, Illinois and Stan Moore and wife, Tamara of Apex, North Carolina; great-grandchildren, Tate Jamison Smith of Bethalto, Illinois and Spencer Lee Moore of Apex, North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Pauline was preceded in death by her son, Larry Gale Moore; brothers, Garold Waite, Harold Waite, Glen Waite, and Charles Waite; sisters, Vivian Goddard and Opal Hanley; great-granddaughter, Shauna Grace Moore; son-in-law, Allen L. Tate; and daughter-in-law, Glenda Moore.

Pauline worked at Davidson’s Bakery in the early 1930s, then later for Taco Villa, the Mount Vernon Township High School Cafeteria, and also Dyel Transportation as the Special Education Bus Driver.  She was active in politics for several years, was a charter member of the Southside Baptist Church, and enjoyed volunteering at nursing homes.  She was a member of AARP, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary 1376, and AFSCME.  She led a long and beautiful life,  is dearly loved, and will be missed by all who knew her.

Private Family Services will be held and interment will take place at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois.
